Breaking News Everyone
Our recycling project has got under way.
Some of the team from Newcastle and Gloucester met at the Gloucester house to unpack the 3in1 Loop2Cycle recycling machine yesterday.
At first it seemed like a bit of a jigsaw puzzle and with no obvious instructional manual we put our heads together (covid safely of course) and figured out what went where.
It was an exciting day with everyone lending a hand and much anticipation to get it fired up and producing .....
We put the brakes on for the day though and enjoyed lots of goodies at coffee club. We wanted to wait for our special guests who visited today.
Sue, Ernie, Angus and Liam were the guests of honour as it was Sue, Angus's mum, who introduced us to the idea and all the information we needed to get this up and running.
With some video call instruction from Carlos at Loop2Cycle we shredded and moulded our first few products. Everyone had a go at shredding and injection moulding.
The energy and enthusiasm of the team was fantastic and we all learned so much with Carlos's patient instruction.
To know that our single use waste plastic is no longer waste but is actually a useful resource to be made into useful items is a great feeling.
Shredding and melting some yoghurt and ice cream tubs we were able to make a coaster and 2 hammer head shark shapes that can be used to make jewellery, key rings or any other creation the imagination can come up with.
And the great thing about it is if we make a mistake or don't like how something turns out, we just re shred it, melt it and have another go.
Special thanks goes to our sponsor at Aurizon, we are very grateful for their support.
Enjoy the photo's, lots more to come as we get creative.
