IAS would like to touch base with everyone in these uncertain and changing times. Our role to support people in their homes continues and we are working hard to take every measure possible to prevent the transmission of COVID19 within homes and the community.
IAS has released a Pandemic Response Plan to all staff and stakeholders. Now Inverell has confirmed cases of the virus , we are increasing our responses and support to the people we support as well as the staff working in homes by limiting social access and implementing higher levels of infection control .
IAS Day Programs are ceasing this week and many management staff are working from home. They remain easily accessible by Skype, email and phone.
We are continually re-evaluating how we deliver our supports and rosters as many programs and workplaces have ceased. On Monday, 23rd March, 2020, IAS held a Staff Meeting to review the Pandemic Response Plan March 2020 and to address questions from staff. IAS will continue to keep everyone up to date with the latest information.
IAS has circulated easy to read information and visual posters regarding understanding the virus, hygiene, social distancing and the symptoms of the virus. Staff are currently completing on-line training with the Dept of Health in Infection Control – COVID 19.
We continue to try to source personal protection equipment and supplies, which is a challenging task. IAS is preparing people for social isolation, changes to travel and routines and assessing how we share common spaces.
More than anything we are being kind to each other. IAS staff have not worked in this environment, so we are taking it one day at a time, knowing the need for emotional support is more important than ever.
Please take care everyone, check in with those around you and keep in contact.
